Wow!!! First of all, I can't say enough about Jim, the maitre'D.
What was supposed to be a little over an hour trip to The Palm, turned out to be a 2 1/2 hour traffic nightmare. Those familiar with the Schuylkill Expressway will understand my frustration.
We had a 5:30 p.m. reservation, and didn't walk into the restaurant until 6:45 p.m., and needed to be at a performance at the Kimmel Center at 8:00 p.m.
I kept Jim apprised of our progress, as we inched our way to center city Philadelphia. He was most gracious.
When I was about 15 minutes away, I placed another call to him, and he asked me what my friend and I were drinking, and that he would have those drinks ready for us when we arrived. OMG!!! When we finally did arrive, there at our table were two perfectly made Manhattans (up). We were SO impressed!
However, it didn't stop there. He assured us that we would be out on time for our performance, and our server, Eric D, was so efficient and attentive, working to get us through our dining experience without feeling rushed. Amazing!!
Indeed, we left the restaurant at 7:45, having enjoyed a fabulous dinner!!! The Palm is always consistently good.
I usually blog about the food and wine, but this time, it is for the excellent service AND food that we received from The Palm that evening.
Thank you Jim, Eric and all the professionals at The Palm for making our experience so memorable!!!
You Rock!!!

The Log Cabin Restaurant, Leola PA
Recently we had the pleasure of dining at the historic "Log Cabin," just north of Lancaster, PA and south of Reading, PA
The site was once occupied by the Nanticoke Indians, and built in the early 1800's.
The new owners are Executive Chef, David Eshleman and his wife, Linda Eshleman, and Kirk and Pam Liddell.
Nestled in the woods, you have to go over one of the few operative, one lane, covered wooden bridges. Just driving there, sets the stage for dining in the cabin in the woods.
The cuisine is basically American, with impeccable preparations and attention to presentation.
I absolutely loved the Calamari appetizer (calamari sauteed with smoked bacon, garlic, white wine and herbs) - simply lush!!!
Since I've been there twice, I had the pleasure of enjoying the Rainbow Trout, with fingerling potatoes and lemon-parsley browned butter. Simple, but delicious!!
From the grill, the Filet Mignon with a red wine-demi-glace just melted in my mouth. Outstanding!!
The service was very personable, with the wait staff having a knowledge of the menu selections.
The wine list was average, and fairly priced.
The menu changes seasonally, and we look forward to dining there again soon.
Congratulations to the new owners!!
